Readmoo folding e-reader
The Taiwanese company Readmoo, known for its innovative e-readers, presented to the world its latest asset – MooInk V, the first commercially available e-reader with a foldable color screen. This device, presented at Touch Taiwan 2025, represents a significant step forward in the design and functionality of e-readers, combining the convenience of flip devices with the pleasant experience of reading on an E Ink screen.

The MooInk V uses an 8-inch E Ink Gallery 3 color display with a resolution of 300 ppi, capable of displaying up to 50,000 color shades. This technology ensures a sharp and eye-pleasing display of text and images, even in direct sunlight, without the harmful blue light characteristic of LCD screens. What makes this device truly special is its ability to fold in the middle, thanks to a robust aluminum-magnesium alloy hinge mechanism that the manufacturer claims can withstand over 200,000 folds.
The design of the MooInk V is inspired by a traditional book. When folded, the device is compact and fits easily in a pocket or bag, while protecting the screen from damage. Unfolded, it offers a spacious 8-inch screen ideal for reading e-books, comics, manga and other digital content. Users can read in portrait or landscape mode, and the screen can be folded to a 90-degree angle, simulating holding a real book.
At 255 grams, the MooInk V is slightly heavier than standard Kindle devices, which is likely due to the folding mechanism and materials used. However, the extra weight is offset by its unique portability and screen protection.
Although Readmoo has yet to announce pricing and release date details, the MooInk V is already generating a lot of interest among e-book lovers and tech enthusiasts. This innovative device not only offers a new reading experience, but also foreshadows the future of e-readers, where convenience and display quality come together in an elegant and portable form.
With the MooInk V, Readmoo has once again confirmed its commitment to innovation and improving the digital reading experience. We remain to follow further information about this exciting device and its arrival on the market.
